For those who use Instagram and have browsed Stories, you know that moving from one Story to the other is basically tapping to the left or the right of your display. TikTok, on the other hand, employs a different method of navigation where users scroll down to move from one TikTok video to another.

Now it seems that Instagram might be interested in borrowing that feature from TikTok. This is according to developer Alessandro Paluzzi who discovered that Instagram is testing out a new way of users browsing Stories in a manner that is similar to TikTok. According to Paluzzi, the feature is not live yet and was discovered in Instagram’s code.

This suggests that Instagram could eventually release it in a future update, or at least the very least make it available as a test. This wouldn’t be the first time Instagram would be borrowing ideas from TikTok. The company had previously released its Reels feature which basically allowed them to directly compete against TikTok.

Presumably, the idea behind this change in Stories could be that Instagram is hoping to lure more TikTok users over to its platform and are hoping that a more familiar navigation style would make the switch less jarring.
