Amazon’s Twitch platform tends to focus more on PC games and is usually streamed for longer periods of time. However, mobile games can be just as popular which is why Amazon has since announced its new short-form gameplay footage app for mobile devices called GameOn.

Unlike Twitch, which like we said tends to focus more on longer-form videos, GameOn is meant for quicker gaming sessions where each clip will be about 30 seconds to 5 minutes long. It will also have a greater emphasis on mobile games found on the iOS App Store so that iOS gamers will be able to download those games for themselves later.

Also, it doesn’t seem to be about live streaming, so gamers save clips and footage of themselves playing games that they can then upload to GameOn later or choose to upload to a different platform. In a way, GameOn kind of challenges the likes of YouTube which also features game footage, but given that YouTube has a more general use beyond games, gamers who specifically want game related footage could turn to GameOn instead.

GameOn was previously launched on Android back in late 2020, so for iOS users who felt like they were missing out will be able to download the app from the App Store.
