The main appeal of true wireless earbuds is their portability. If you want audiophile grade earphones or headphones, you’ll have to look for something bigger. This is largely due to physics, where smaller headphones can only accommodate smaller drivers, which for the most part means less than stellar sound (we’re talking about consumer grade stuff, there are exceptions to this).

However, Master & Dynamic have managed to make a name for themselves with the MW07 true wireless earbuds, which were some of the best-sounding earbuds in the category, and now the company is back with their latest offering in the form of the MW08. In terms of design, the outward appearance doesn’t seem to have changed that much, but under the hood is where the biggest changes can be found.

This comes in the form of hybrid active noise cancellation, something its predecessor was lacking, and puts it squarely in competition with other earbuds like Apple’s AirPods Pro. It also supports Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, and comes with an 11mm Beryllium driver, support for AAC, aptX, and SBC, and 12 hours of battery life that can be extended by 30 hours thanks to its charging case.

The MW08, like its predecessor, does not come cheap at $299, but if you value sound quality while also looking for a pair of headphones in a portable package, then this could be worth checking out.
