While Zoom has been around for a while, it was only thanks to the pandemic that the company’s services blew up and made the platform more or less the default video conferencing platform today. However, the company isn’t resting on their laurels because they have since released a new SDK that could see Zoom integrated into other softwares in the future.

According to the company, some of the uses of its SDK involve social media where Zoom envisions their platform being integrated into social media apps to allow for on-the-go live streaming. They also think that it could be useful for gaming where they believe it could help with audience engagement. They also envision Zoom being used for retail purposes.

According to Zoom, “With the ability to build the reliability and scale-ready performance of Zoom’s video-first unified communications platform into their products and applications, developers are able to leverage our Video SDK to create new and exciting experiences. Using our Video SDK, developers can drive customer engagement and provide new opportunities for revenue without being tied to the Zoom Meetings user interface.”

At the moment it is unclear which apps or companies might integrate and use Zoom’s SDK in their applications or operations, but it is clear that Zoom wants to be more than just an app.
