When it comes to the development of electric cars, we’ve mostly seen efforts from more mainstream carmakers that cater to the masses. This is less evident when it comes to companies that are known more for their supercars. However, if you’re curious as to what an EV Ferrari could look like, you won’t have to wait too long to find out.

Speaking during Ferrari’s annual general meeting, the company’s chairman and CEO John Elkann said that they will be launching their first all-electric model in 2025. According to Elkann, “You can be sure this will be everything you dream the engineers and designers at Maranello can imagine for such a landmark in our history.”

While Elkann does not dive into specifics of what an all-electric Ferrari car could look like, Autocar.co.uk points to a patent discovered last year which suggested that it would be a four-wheel drive with an electric motor powering each wheel. However, as with patents, it’s hard to say if this is merely an idea of one that’s actively being developed.

However, Ferrari commercial boss Enrico Galliera did state that when Ferrari does enter the EV market, it will be with something completely new. He was quoted as saying, “If we bring in new technology, then we need to bring something new to the market. That’s how Ferrari has always worked with new technology. The evolution of new technology is 100% in the DNA of Ferrari.”

While a Ferrari is pretty much out the reach for many of us, it will be interesting to see how the company will maintain its status as a supercar manufacturer in a world of EVs.
