When it comes to building computers, we usually have a choice between Intel and AMD. Both have their pros and cons, although usually when it comes to prebuilts, a lot of companies tend to offer Intel only. However, if you’re looking for an AMD powered computer, then Microsoft has you covered.

The company has recently taken the wraps off its latest laptop in the form of the Microsoft Surface 4. While it was largely expected that Microsoft would eventually refresh its Surface series, what’s interesting about this update is that Microsoft is giving users the option to choose between either Intel or AMD processors.

The options include Intel’s latest 11th gen processors or AMD’s Ryzen 4000 series, with the latter being priced starting at $999 while the Intel version will have a base price of $1,299, making it $300 more expensive. The Surface 4 will feature a design similar to its predecessor and will be offered in 13.5-inch and 15-inch variants with 8GB of base RAM, 256GB of base storage, but this can be upgraded to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

In terms of battery life, Microsoft claims that the 13.5-inch models will get about 17-17.5 hours, while the larger 15-inch model will get about 16.5 hours, which is actually rather impressive. The Surface 4 is expected to start shipping in the US, Canada, and Japan on the 15th of April.
