Growing up, the Transformers line of toys was incredibly appealing because of how cool the robots looked in the cartoons when they could transform themselves back and forth. Obviously the toys were a far cry from the cartoons in terms of self-transformation, but fast forward to today and it’s a whole different story.

Hasbro has recently unveiled a new Transformer toy featuring Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots, and what makes this toy so awesome is that it can actually transform on its own! Yes, decades after the toys were available to kids, we finally have one that actually transforms like it does in the cartoons, and it is all kinds of cool.

Now, the bad news is that unlike the toys from the good old days, this model does not come cheap. According to Hasbro, this Optimus Prime toy features 5,000 components, 27 servo motors, and 60 microchips, all of which helps the toy transform. It also comes at a very hefty price tag of $700, meaning that this is definitely aimed at adult collectors rather than a toy you would give to a 10 year old.

If this sounds like something you’d like to own, then head on over to Hasbro’s website and pre-order it where it is expected to begin shipping out in August later this year.
