Foldable phones from a technological point of view are impressive. However, there is a bit of concern regarding durability, namely the display which isn’t as rigid compared to more traditional displays. This is because in order to be flexible, a different type of material is used, which also makes it slightly more susceptible to scratches and dents.

However, during a durability test by JerryRigEverything, Huawei’s Mate X2 foldable phone actually survived a lot of the things that were thrown at it. Most impressive was when the YouTuber attempted to fold the phone the opposite direction, which you would assume would result in the phone snapping like a twig, but apparently not.

In the video above, JerryRigEverything attempts to bend the phone in the opposite direction but to his surprise and ours, it did not break. You can see he’s really giving it his all, but is unable to break the device. This is thanks to the design of the phone where the two halves actually meet each other when you fold it the opposite direction, giving it added durability.

While the Mate X2 is far from invincible, if you’re looking to pick up a foldable phone for yourself and are worried about damaging it, the Mate X2 seems like a good choice as it turns out to be surprisingly rugged.
