Apple’s updates to its iPad mini lineup have been rather lackluster, but not surprising given that Apple seems to be more interested in its higher-end iPad Pro series. However, it sees that a refresh could take place later this year, albeit slightly later than expected, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

In a note to investors, Kuo made remarks in which he said that he believed that a new iPad mini would arrive in the second half of the year. Given that we have heard rumors of an iPad mini refresh, many had initially expected that the table would most likely make an appearance at the Spring Loaded event, but obviously it did not.

While no specific dates were mentioned, there is a good chance the updated iPad mini could arrive much later in the year. This is because Apple’s WWDC event tends to be more software and services focused, which means that there might not be any announcements regarding the iPad mini.

The iPhone event will also most likely skip the new iPad since that event tends to focus more on the iPhone and Apple Watch. This means that if the new iPad mini is announced, it will probably be at the MacBook refresh towards the end of the year. Of course, this is just speculation on our part, so don’t take our word for it.
