Earlier this year, Twitter announced a new feature called Super Follower that basically lets users create paid tweets that only subscribers can see. It was a way for Twitter to monetize their platform. We had also heard that Twitter could be working on another monetization feature in the form of tipping, and it looks like the rumors were true.

Twitter has recently announced a new feature called the Tip Jar. As the name suggests, this will let users send or receive money from other Twitter users. As you can see in the video below, users will be able to choose from various payment platforms to send money, such as Venmo and PayPal, just to name a few.

We’re not sure if there are plans to add more payment providers in the feature, especially local ones if it expands to other countries, but for now, this is a test so it is understandable that some of the features might be a little limited at this point in time. This could serve as an alternative to Super Followers, where some users might choose to keep their tweets free in hopes that their followers will leave tips every now and then.

We’re not sure how much of a cut Twitter will be taking from the Tip Jar, but if you do use Twitter quite often and you want to monetize your posts, this could be one way to go about it.
