Apple’s iPad mini held a lot of potential. It was small and compact and was really the ideal size for a tablet, but it felt like it kept getting the short end of the upgrade stick over the years to the point where some believed it could eventually get discontinued. However, if a recent report from Bloomberg is to be believed, it could be the other way around.

The report claims that Apple is working on a new iPad mini that could be getting a much deserved upgrade. The report claims that this new iPad mini will feature slimmer bezels and drop the home button. However, it does mention that this is one of the possibilities as Apple is said to be testing out such a design, but it wouldn’t be surprising if it was true.

Apple already removed the home button from the iPad Air, although they kept Touch ID by integrating the sensor into the power button, so presumably the same would be done for the iPad mini if the report is true. We’ve also heard a recent rumor that claims that the display size could be upgraded from 7.9-inches to 8.4-inches.

It feels like that rumor is starting to hold more weight as slimmer bezels would allow Apple to maintain the overall size while giving it a larger display. Either way, as with all rumors, don’t take it as gospel but hopefully we’ll have more details to share later on.
