When the iPhone 12 series was first announced, many early hands-on reviews focused on the iPhone 12 mini which had a size that was a throwback to the good old days of the iPhone. Many of the reviews seemed to praise the iPhone 12 mini due to the size where you could comfortably hold it with one hand.

However, maybe it was a pricing issue, but ultimately the phone failed to take which is why there were rumors that production could be killed off earlier than expected. It turns out that the rumors might have come true, according to a report from TrendForce who claims that production of the handset has reportedly reached end-of-life status ahead of time.

This means that Apple is expected to just continue selling whatever they have left in stock and once that’s done, it will no longer be restocked and it will be the end of the iPhone 12 mini. It is a pity because many do seem to like the form factor, but at those prices, you might as well pay a bit more for the larger iPhone.

Had Apple priced it lower and made the price difference a bit more obvious, then perhaps it might have done better. That being said, we have heard rumors that Apple could be trying one more time with the iPhone 13 mini, but we’ll have to wait until later this year to find out.
