Typically, Apple refreshes its iPhone design every couple of years, but we reckon since the iPhone 6, the redesigns have stopped becoming very obvious as it felt like a few changes here and there, but nothing as wild as the iPhone 3G going to the iPhone 4, and the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 5.
However, that changed last year with the iPhone 12 coming from the curved design of the iPhone 11 series, and it seems that we can look forward to yet another redesign in 2022. This is according to a report from Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter where he claims that for the iPhone 14, it is expected to be a “complete redesign”.
According to Gurman, it seems that the minor change we saw in this year’s iPhone was apparently a sign that Apple was working on bigger changes that might take longer to implement.
This is not the first time we’re hearing about a potential redesign as about a week ago, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that the iPhone 14 could do away with the notch in favor of a hole-punch cutout that we see from other Android handset makers. Whether or not these reports turn out to be accurate remains to be seen, but if you’re looking for a more significant upgrade, it might be worth waiting until 2022.
