A few years ago, unless you were a streamer or someone who video conferences often, there’s a good chance you probably did not care too much about your webcam and its quality. As long as it worked and didn’t look too terrible, you would be fine. However, these days as many continue to work from home, the need for a higher-quality webcam has increased.

In fact, if you’re in the market for a new webcam, then you might be interested in the Opal C1. This is a webcam designed and developed by a group of people who were formerly employees at Apple, Beats, and Uber. It is also being backed by Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit.

The creators of the C1 are calling it the “first professional webcam” and it will come with features like a premium build, noise-cancelling features, beamforming microphones, and more. It also comes with a Mac exclusive app that makes the webcam plug and play.

The webcam will also feature the use of a Sony 7.8mm sensor that will support 4K video capture at a super smooth 60 fps, and an f/1.8 six-element lens. That being said, all of this won’t come cheap. The webcam is priced at $300 and if you’re interested, you can sign up to purchase it under the beta program.
