Over the years, IKEA has evolved its product offering from just regular furniture to smart furniture and even dabbled in some tech. Some of you might recall that a few years ago, IKEA and Sonos teamed up for the SYMFONISK speaker which combined IKEA’s furniture and product design with Sonos’ speaker and audio streaming technology.

However, it looks like IKEA isn’t stopping there. According to a report from The Verge, they spotted an FCC filing in which it revealed that IKEA is working on a new set of speakers, but this time these speakers Spotify-enabled speakers that come with a dedicated Spotify button. These speakers also double up as a tableside lamp called the IKEA Vappeby.

Given that these aren’t part of the SYMFONISK lineup, it looks like it’s an IKEA creation, possibly part of a team up with Spotify. Also, as The Verge points out, this could also possibly be the first ever Bluetooth speakers to feature the use of Spotify Tap.

For those unfamiliar, Spotify Tap is a feature that allows users to resume their music playback from whenever they last stopped. It can be found in some headphone models, but it has yet to debut on a set of Bluetooth speakers, so like we said, this could be a first. There is no word on pricing or availability yet but  given that they were spotted at the FCC, we probably won’t have to wait too long for those details to surface.
