macbook proTo date, most of the reviews for Apple’s new MacBook Pros have been very positive, with many praising the performance and battery life of the laptops. However, if you’ve yet to get on board the MacBook Pro train, you might have to wait until 2022 to do so. This is because it seems that the laptops have been backordered until 2022.

Keep in mind that this isn’t for all models but certain configurations, where users are reporting that the estimated shipping dates for some of these configurations are extending into the 3rd of January, 2022. It is possible that it could ship earlier than that, but depending on when you order, you might only expect to see your order arrive in January of next year.

This affects both the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, but if you were to opt for the standard configurations, those seem to be available and will ship in the first week of December. While it is unclear why there is such a long delay for the custom configurations, if we had to guess we would say it’s probably a combination of both the popularity of the laptops as well as the global chip shortage that has affected everyone in the industry, including Apple.

That being said, the first week of January 2022 isn’t too bad of a wait, but we imagine that until the global chip shortage comes to an end, we can expect to keep seeing these types of delays in the near future.
