The Apple Watch comes with a heart rate tracker that users can use to measure their heart rate when they work out. It can also be used as an alert when it detects that the user might have an exceptionally high or low heart rate which could signal that something is wrong.

We’ve come across countless similar stories in the past, and now it looks like we can add another to the list. According to a report from KSDK, a 68-year old grandma Patti Sohn has credited her Apple Watch for saving her life after notifying her that her heart rate was very low.

According to Sohn, she has a healthy lifestyle where she regularly works out, eats right, and has been making sure to close the activity rings on the Apple Watch that was gifted to her by her son. However, one day, the watch buzzed on her wrist to let her know that her heart rate was below 43 for the past 10 minutes.

As a retired nurse practitioner, she knew that this was lower than normal and took her pulse manually and a blood pressure test. Her husband then drove her to the Missouri Baptist Medical Center where she was admitted and stayed through the night where she was continuously monitored.

Sohn was later released and a week later was packing for a trip when her watch buzzed her again. She went back to the hospital where it was discovered she had a second-degree heart block which required that she have a pacemaker installed. According to Sohn, there was a bit of an adjustment period to have the pacemaker in her, but ultimately she’s glad and grateful to the doctors and her watch for saving her life.
