When Samsung launched the Galaxy S21 series earlier this year, they officially brought S Pen support to the phone. This is a first given that as far as Samsung phones are concerned, only the Note series had support for the S Pen. However, it wasn’t an ideal setup because there was no dedicated slot for the stylus.

This means that users who wanted to use the stylus had to carry it separately where there was a chance for it to get lost. That could change in 2022 because according to a series of photos obtained by Front Page Tech, it appears that with the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, Samsung will be giving the phone a dedicated slot for the S Pen.

This would suggest that the stylus could come bundled with the phone, which is good news for users who might have otherwise been hesitant to purchase it separately. It also seems that in order to accommodate the slot for the stylus, Samsung had to make the phone slightly thicker which also gets rid of the P-shaped camera hump, which we think is a good thing.

It is unclear how much thicker the phone will be, but then again, phones these days are already pretty thin so even if it were to be thicker, it’s not necessarily a bad thing as it could make it easier and nicer to hold. The Galaxy S22 series is expected to be launched in the early part of 2022, but Samsung has yet to officially confirm a date.
