Microsoft Giving Windows 11 Users More Ways To Customize The Start Menu

Usually with every new iteration of Windows, Microsoft introduces a redesigned UI. Some of them have not been very well met, like Windows 8, so thankfully with Windows 11, Microsoft has not gone overboard with the UI changes. However, one of the more noticeable changes would be to the Start Menu.

Some users seem to be ok with it, while others seem to really dislike the change, but the good news is that Microsoft is now testing out an Insider build in which they will give users more options when it comes to customizing the Start Menu in Windows 11.

According to Microsoft, “Starting in this build, you can right-click on Start to quickly access Start settings and choose the “More pins” or “More recommendations” layout option to show an extra row of either pins or recommendations, respectively.” You can see the differences in the screenshot above that compares the different looks and layouts that users can choose from.

Unfortunately, this is where the customization ends. It doesn’t seem that Microsoft is giving users the option to bring back the Start Menu that users have familiarized themselves with in Windows 10, but we suppose it’s still miles better than what the company attempted with Windows 8.

Take note that this is currently an Insider build which means that if you’re not part of the Insider program, you won’t see these changes until Microsoft rolls it out.
