We have been hearing rumors that Apple could be developing a cheaper, more affordable version of its Pro Display XDR. It now turns out that Apple could also possibly be developing a more expensive, higher-end model that could feature a much higher resolution than what the current model is offering.

This is according to a report from 9to5Mac in which they have heard from their sources that a new “Apple Studio Display” with a 7K resolution could be in the works. For a bit of context, the current Pro Display XDR offers a 6K resolution, which for the most part is actually higher than most displays you will find in the market, many of which max out at 4K, with some crossing over to 5K.

This means that even right now, 6K is higher than average, so going 7K would be taking it one step further. Unfortunately, apart from the bump in resolution, not much else is known about this Apple Studio Display, but given the current price of the Pro Display XDR, a 7K version would be even more expensive.

That being said, we imagine that Apple isn’t targeting regular consumers with this display, but rather industry professionals who can take advantage of the higher resolution as well as the color accuracy that it offers. There is also no word on when this display could be announced, but the company is hosting an event for the 8th of March where maybe they could unveil it then.
