Dell announced several Ultrasharp monitors at CES 2023, covering a large spectrum of the professional market. That said, most people with enough room for a very large computer monitor should look at the new Dell UltraSharp 43 4K USB-C Hub (model U4323QE).

Technically a 42.5” monitor, this Dell monitor is designed for productivity from the ground up. I switched to 43-inch monitors many years ago (from LG, though), and such large monitors are superior to smaller ones (36-inch and below) on several productivity fronts.

First, most people can use the native 4K resolution at 100% or 125% scaling, giving you as much Windows Desktop space as possible. This boosts your potential for having multiple documents and apps open simultaneously.

Heavy spreadsheet users can display humongous files and drastically reduce the scrolling required to view complex data or even highly complex formulas. That’s the opposite of working on such files on a laptop.

Finally, you have much more vertical space compared to ultrawide monitors. When dealing with code or documents, having more vertical space does increase your productivity because you don’t have to scroll as much.

Dell’s new monitor delivers all these benefits and comes with an integrated USB-C Hub. It is like an integrated laptop dock with multiple quick-access USB ports, Ethernet connectivity, and 90W Power. While this is not unheard of, Dell offers a monitor design that looks pretty well-built and should serve you well for years.

Dell points out this monitor can display four independent video inputs, which most big monitors can do. However, I have not found this practical unless you’re an IT administrator or work in video surveillance or broadcast.

Details like the front-access ports and the joystick-style menu controller should make using it more agreeable daily. The only downside is the premium pricing, which is $1330, and there are cheaper less fancy alternatives.
