As water scarcity becomes an increasingly pressing issue in North America (and around the world), Spout Ventures emerges as a beacon of hope; the company specializes in designing atmospheric water generators, and groundbreaking machines that condense potable water from the surrounding air’s humidity.

Today (05/08/2023) marks the launch of their inaugural consumer product: a compact generator that fits effortlessly on a countertop, measuring 8.5 inches wide, 19 inches deep, and 15 inches tall.

Operating with the simplicity of a standard wall plug, this device requires minimal input and can produce up to 2.5 gallons of water daily. Remarkably, approximately 80% of homes globally reside in climates humid enough to benefit from this innovative creation, according to Spout.

Co-founder Reuben Vollmer’s inspiration for harnessing atmospheric water came from his parents’ olive farm in drought-ridden California — while walking his dog, he noticed the dew on the grass, sparking his quest to solve water access issues. In 2014, Vollmer founded DewGood to develop atmospheric water generators, despite initial setbacks.

The overwhelming global demand for their technology fueled his drive. In 2019, Vollmer partnered with Tyler Breton to establish Spout, focusing on creating smaller, more affordable, and quieter units. The Spout system employs clay, heating coils, and condensation to produce alkalized water, safeguarded by a UV light.

Collaborating with Bould Design, Spout successfully launched the release unit at $599 (and the company estimates consumers will spend an additional $100 a year for filter replacements) — now, it’s being sold for $399 with a $99 pre-order deposit fee. Shipping starts in July 2023. More details at the official website.
