Amazon has plans to jump aboard the tablet bandwagon as well, and it seems that their new tablets are being slated for an August or September roll out, with plans to ship anywhere from 700,000 to 800,000 tablets monthly – translating to around 4 million units sold for this year alone – if it meets its release date, of course.

Word on the street has it that Amazon’s tablets will be powered by processors from Texas Instruments, while earlier rumors did point out that the quad core NVIDIA T30 “Kal-El” System on Chip will even see action here as well. Wintek will be the one who supplies the touch panels, while other companies like Quanta Computer will be the main party behind its assembly.

As for me, we will be gunning for the August timeframe simply because Amazon and August both start with ‘A’ – yes, I know that this does not require any sort of rocket science or critical thinking skills, but it sure sounds better to have both words begin with the same letter than something different. What about you – will it be September for you?
