relioThe default flash units on our smartphones and compact cameras is fine for most situations, although admittedly they can be a bit harsh and sometimes might not be as bright as we would like. If you’re trying to go for a certain effect, chances are that these flash units might not be up to the task.

That being said if you’re interested in a portable light source to help illuminate your subjects, you might be interested in the Relio. The Relio, as you can see in the image above, is small enough to fit into the palm of your hand and also your pocket, presumably. It measures 35mm all around and is powered by a USB connection.

It can be mounted on tripods, cameras, or held in your hand, depending on what you need. According to the company, they boast that the device offers the highest color accuracy amongst comparable products, and at 200 lumens, it is pretty bright for its size and type! If you’re a mobile photographer who doesn’t shoot in a studio all the time, perhaps the Relio could be worth your consideration.

The device is priced at around $108 and if you’d like to learn more or maybe pick one up for yourself, head on over to Relio’s website for the details.
