01/28/2011, When it comes to hardware, making sure they have a definite upgrade path down the road is definitely something that manufacturers should learn to look into. The Archos 9 and Archos 7 tablets are on the right path, with the former now coming with an SSD while the latter will sport an 800MHz processor and Android 2.1 Eclair as the operating system of choice, not to mention 8GB of flash […]
05/06/2010, For folks who have placed a pre-order for the Archos 7 Home Tablet, we’re sorry to burst your bubble that the April shipping date did not materialize as you would have known by now. It seems that folks living in the US will have to wait until early June for the device to ship, although those who have their planets all aligned might be able to get hold of their […]

03/29/2010, The Archos 7 Internet Tablet has a very high chance of shipping sometime next month, where this 7″ device that runs on the Android OS while featuring a full touchscreen display is going for 180 Euros where its 8GB version is concerned, while there are whispers of a 2GB model that will hit the market for around 149 Euros which we frankly think isn’t worth your money. Do you think […]
03/01/2010, Archos has rolled out its 7 and 8 Home Tablets that emphasize more on being easy on your pockets and targeting home use instead of being a fully fledged Mobile Internet Device. Despite their intended function, they aren’t gimped in any way with a 600MHz ARM9-based Rockchip 2808 processor running on the Android operating system, carrying 128MB RAM, Wi-Fi and USB connectivity, a microSD memory card slot and integrated speakers. […]
02/19/2010, Archos has two tablet devices that will run on the Android operating system, where they will see action in Germany at the CeBIT show, touting both models to be “good value Android Tablets that are specially designed for use in the home”. Sounds promising, but then again which company would disparage their own products before launch? It would be interesting to see whether these are able to remotely challenge the […]
01/27/2010, We all know that with news of Apple ready to announce its much hyped tablet device today, virtually anything else that isn’t Apple won’t light up the radar. Well, Archos goes against the grain with whispers of an Archos 7 which will be powered by Google’s Android operating system. Needless to say, the Archos 7 will follow in the footsteps of its smaller sibling, the Archos 5, by featuring a […]
11/28/2009, It looks like Archos is quite supportive of developers, evidenced by its recent PR that confirms that the company is making a proof-of-concept “developer edition” firmware for its ARCHOS 5 and ARCHOS 7 Internet Media Tablets. The firmware will be based on the Angstrom Linux distribution, though it certainly isn’t meant to be a commercial distro. Are you planning to tweak your Archos device with this when it’s released?
