Unfortunately proprietary lenses tend to cost a lot more, which is why photographers will sometimes turn to brands such as Tamron who make lenses that are compatible on a variety of different camera brands.

The after-market camera equipment maker is using a piezoelectric internal focus motor to achieve this feat along with Vibration Compensation for image stabilization.
