6.8Ghz laptop with one TeraByte of non-volatile RAM

That's the promise of Atom Chip Corporation for the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) held in Las Vegas in January 2006. The computer should demonstrate how Quantum and Quantum-optical devices could operate in consumer electronics. Without proper benchmarking, it is hard to tell if the "AtomChip" 6.8Ghz CPU is faster than current high-end competitors are. However, the solid-state drive that replaces the traditional hard disk should be orders of magnitude faster. If AtomChip can pull this off, it would be *huge*. More images after the jump.
