High-performance CO2 filter

South Koreans are an environmentally friendly lot, and a team of their scientists have managed to find a solution in producing plastic films that are effective in filtering targeted molecules that are subsequently used to capture greenhouse gases in power plants as well as factories, hence reducing the damage in our earth’s ozone layer. It would seem as though “the greatest benefit of these polymers is the ability to tune the cavity size and distribution for specific gas applications by using various template molecules and heat treatments, with one starting material.” Manufacturing a membrane filter using this method is approximately 500 times more efficient when compared to traditional methods where separating carbon dioxide from methane is concerned.
