Sony PS3 80GB to Be Discontinued?
Jan 25, 08 04:35 PM PDT

I go out for a hotdog and when I come back, the PlayStation 3 is rumored to be discontinued! So the rumor started with a post by PS3fanboy that BestBuy was going to discontinue the 80GB version of the PS3. The alleged BestBuy internal note says:
"The 80GB version of the PS3 is going closeout and won't be replaced at this time,"… "It will come off the planogram on Jan. 28. The 60GB version should already be gone from stores. Only the 40GB version of PS3 will be sold in Best Buy stores at this time." (view note)
The 40GB is the cheapest model, but it’s also the one that does not have backwards compatibility. We’ll keep an eye on the issue.
