Israel Keeps Pilots Up with Viagra?

While it is not new that pilots are sometimes given drugs to keep them alert (or just awake), a military report from Israel says that the "Viagra family of drugs" might get the job done better because the improved blood flow induced by the drug allows pilots to perform better at higher altitudes.
Side effects can include long-term blindness, but in the short term it might work as long as the pilot uses the right stick… [more at Wired]

Wow... that one has to make flying a bit tougher. Hard enough (no pun intended) to "drive" with a boner....let alone fly with a boner. :)
Also - is it safe to increase your blood flow while experiencing G-forces? Seems like this could cause problems.
