DS Lite Gets Movie Downloads

Nintendo's DS Lite is an awesome portable gaming machine, but how does it fare when it comes to being a portable media player? Without third party applications, the DS Lite fares badly in this aspect, but Nintendo aims to change that next March by launching an official movie download service. Dubbed the DSvision, it will be launched in Japan next spring and will require DS Lite owners to pick up a £17 bundle that features a USB dongle and a 512MB microSD memory card that fits inside the USB dongle's slot. It doesn't use the DS' wireless capability to download movies, but instead requires users to purchase these movies on the DSvision website, transfer it to the microSD memory card and plugged into the DS Lite itself. At launch time, there will be approximately 300 films, TV shows, comics and e-books with plans to increase the library size to 10,000 within two years' time. Nintendo has touted that 16 movies will fit onto a 2GB card - don't expect great quality images though.
