The Asus Eee 1000 rumor mill can stop: Asus made it official at Computex (Taiwan) that a 10” Asus Eee 1000 and 1000(H) would be available soon. Obviously, the screen size and resolution are better, but the keyboard is larger as well. According to Asus, the Eee 1000 keyboard is 92% the size of an average laptop keyboard. This will please many users that found the first Eee laptop keyboard too small. It will come with Windows or Linux. The battery life will also improve over the original Eee, and Asus claims up to 8 hours, but we it is not clear how usable the computer is with many power settings down to the bare minimum. Finally, more colors and design will be available, although no photos are available at publishing time. This is likely another hit in the making.
Highlights- 8.9 to 10” displays
- Flash drive (SSD)
- Windows or Linux
- 1.3MP webcam
