FINIS Swimsense measures your swimming performance

If you can measure it, you will improve it – right? If you’re a data-driven swimmer, the Swimsense might be a subject of interest. It is a wrist-worn computer equipped with a motion sensor that can “sense” how many strokes you’ve done, how far you’ve have been, and which style (butterfly, breaststroke…) you’re currently using. You’ll have to enter things like the pool size, you weight and age: in short, things that the chip cannot sense :)

All the data can be downloaded to a computer, than processed and archived to give you a view of your performance (hopefully the curve will go up). At $199, I’d say that you need to be fairly committed, but it’s in the price range of a lot of serious sports gears. For info at Finis.
