Motorola has demonstrated two WiMax modems: the CPEI300 (above) and the CPEI800. If you have missed what WiMax is, think “WiFi on steroids” with a range of miles, versus yards (more details). Besides the look, the CPEI800 (price unknown, 2008 release) has 4 Ethernet ports and WiFi, which makes it a whole lot more useful than its better looking CPEI300 friend. Too bad. Expect to see R2D2 mods of the CPEI300 ($200 – avail Q4).
