Alltel announces Parental Controls Alltel has announced its Alltel Parental Controls application that was developed in partnership with Bytemobile, bringing a content filtering application for free to users everywhere from February next year onwards. It uses a comprehensive database of websites that has been deemed unsuitable for kids (pornography, gambling, weapons and violence), enabling parents to filter content on their child’s handset. This could not be any more timely since more and more phones these days can surf the Net with impunity – but unfortunately Parental Controls do not prevent kids from sending questionable and offensive material to one another via Bluetooth or IrDA. Still, a little extra bit of prevention is better than none. [Press Release]
