The UMPC market might be relatively new compared to the tried-and-true laptop segment, but that doesn’t mean hardware manufacturers will shun the former. Kojinsha from Korea has just released the E8 UMPC that also doubles up as a touch screen tablet should the need arise. It is powered by an AMD Geode LX800 processor and comes with a 40GB hard drive, a 7″ 1,024 x 600 resolution display, stereo speakers, a USB port, a memory card slot and runs on Windows XP. Battery life has been rated at 3.5 hours, although that number remains to be confirmed by real-world tests. The E8 will be released at the end of this month for approximately $600, making this yet another competitor for the Asus Eee PC.
