Tracking people who have been thrown overboard can be quite a headache, but soon all that could change with the Man Overboard Indicator (MOBI) that will be tested aboard 105 US Navy vessels. This nifty device will not oly alert a ship’s crew of a sailor (or more) in the water, it also stores special IDs which are unique to all sailors so that rescuers have a better idea of whom they are looking for. Perfect to keep close track of how many more people a rescue team should continue searching, and once everyone is recovered, the search and rescue operations can stop, hence saving time and money at the same time.
