Dog Wan (“Wan” stands for bow-wow in Japanese, and is also known as “Watch, Assist, Nurse” in this case) from Daisen Denshi Kogyo has shed its ugly prototype after four more months of development, in addition to being technically ready. This robot was designed after an old-school robot to make it look more familiar and friendlier, tipping the scales at 5kg (that’s about right for a puppy), and boasts two dozen axes to move. Dog Wan is more than able to shake its tail, move its head, run around, and even carry your shopping bag in its mouth! The Dog Wan is up for rent at $185 to $280 monthly for up to 5 years. Keeping a real dog sounds much cheaper, but it will also cost much more to take care of in non-monetary terms.
