Telegent Systems has just unveiled its new TLG2300 TV tuner that is so tiny, you won’t believe your eyes. How small is it exactly? Well, how does 10mm x 10mm sound to you? This could very well be the next popular peripheral for netbooks, although we’re sure the battery life will take a serious hit – something netbook owners can ill afford if they’re going to use it away from a power outlet the entire day. The TLG2300 TV tuner has integrated the following features into one diminutive package :-
- RF Tuner
- Demodulator
- Decoder
- DSP & audio/video processing
- Scaler
- Worldwide TV stereo
- FM stereo radio
- USB 2.0 connectivity
In addition, it is the first single-chip CMOS in the industry to support DVB-T, PAL, NTSC, SECAM and FM Radio signals. Future firmware updates will also enhance its functionality down the road, reducing the chances of it being obsolete so early in its life cycle.
