i-mate Announces Two New Windows Mobile 6.5 Phones

i-mate has a couple more handsets lined up that will be powered by Windows Mobile 6.5 – the i-mate Legionnaire and i-mate Centurion. With both boasting Roman themes at the height of the empire’s glory, lets hope that i-mate won’t self-destruct in time to come due to internal bickering. Nevermind about corporate structure and power plays, let us focus on the Legionnaire instead. This is a full-touchscreen smartphone that will be out in Q3 this year, alongside a UMPC known as the i-mate Warrior. It seems that the Legionnaire will be able to slot into the Warrior to function as a touchpad while sending internal information to the larger XVGA display. Sounds more like a dock than anything else. As for the i-mate Centurion, it will lack a touchscreen display but come with HSDPA connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth support and a 2 megapixel camera. The Legionnaire and Centurion will retail for 199 and 550 denarii – sorry, we meant dollars.
