Vizio Leaves The Plasma Industry

Flat panel TV manufacturer Vizio has just released word that they will no longer produce plasma displays but will concentrate solely on LCD TVs, leaving just three large volume plasma manufacturers left in the US – namely LG, Panasonic and Samsung. Some of the reasons include the poor performance of plasma TVs in showrooms as well as stores no thanks to the choice of ambient lighting, while most stores prefer to devote shelf space to fast moving goods instead of a lumbering behemoth that has a tough time getting sold even if you employ the best salesman in the world. Vizio’s sole concentration on the LCD market will begin to bear fruit from July onwards with its first LED backlit LCD TV that will retail for $1,999 in return for 55″ of viewing goodness with 240Hz technology.
