T-Mobile To Use Non-Standard SIM Cards

T-Mobile is planning to use a non-standard SIM card format in the future, although this does not apply to cellphones. This new SIM format will be used in devices like connected GPS, Remote sensors or something like the Amazon Kindle. That’s because such devices usually come with an unlimited data plan that could be used for other purposes (like a PDA or a laptop) if the SIM was removable. If T-Mobile was to use it on cellphones… that would certainly create an uproar.

By using non-removable identification methods like this, wireless carriers are laying the ground for the next wave of connected devices.
