Pill capsule tells on you to your doctor

Taking your medicine can be quite a challenge for some folks, especially if it is on a long term basis. Well, University of Florida researchers have come up with a new method – an ingestible pill capsule that contains a tiny microchip and antenna which will alert doctors or family members each time a pill is taken, so miss a dose at your own peril. This pill is currently in a prototype form, but both researchers and clinicians (and not patients, we presume!) will aim to see it end up as an actual smart pill sometime down the road. Hopefully all the added mechanisms and circuitry within won’t add too much to the final price point, since medicine and healthcare alone is already expensive as they are already. Imagine walking up to the medicine counter the next time round – “Will it be the tattle-tale pill, or the silent version, sir/ma’am?”
