System 76 EduBook Is Powered By Ubuntu Linux

Linux computer builders System 76 have added a new Ubuntu Linux powered netbook to its lineup, the System 76 Starling EduBook, which is more or less a rebadged Intel Classmate PC. The main difference is that instead of using the usual Windows XP installation, System 76 has opted to install Ubuntu 10.04 Education Edition Netbook Remix. The netbook will only begin shipping in May, but it’s already up for pre-order if you want one. The list price is $399, and for that, you’ll get:

  • 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor
  • 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 pixel display
  • Wi-Fi a/b/g/n
  • 3 USB ports
  • VGA output
  • 1GB RAM
  • 160GB hard drive
