Looks like Verizon isn’t the only carrier that’s focusing on LTE. Despite the hype surrounding the WiMAX-toting HTC EVO 4G, it seems that Sprint is also checking out other 4G options, and we’re obviously talking about LTE. Reports are out that Sprint has issued a next-generation network request for proposal (RFP) regarding LTE, clearly indicating that it is beginning to check LTE out. The RFP is an invitation for suppliers to bid on a particular service, and while it doesn’t mean that Sprint will be definitely moving to LTE in the future, it’s nice to know that Sprint is at least considering such a possibility. Why do we care? Perhaps it’s because LTE has a nice theoretical 100Mbps peak speed. Now who wouldn’t love that?
