New Firmware Offers 3D Sweep Panorama For Sony's NEX-3/NEX-5 Cameras

Firmware updates can cause a lot of problems, as many HTC EVO 4G users found out recently, but then again, firmware updates can offer some really cool features. Sony’s freshly-released Alpha NEX-5 and NEX-3 digital cameras have just been offered a new firmware, one that offers a cool new 3D Sweep Panorama feature. Previously there was only a 2D panorama mode, but with the new features, users will be able to hit the shutter button, sway the camera from one side to another while the camera shoots a series of high-speed shots, and automatically sync them together to form a panoramic image. Of course, being a 3D image, you’ll need to hook the camera up to a 3D TV in order to get the full effect. If you own this camera and want to give the new feature a test drive, you can manually download the firmware from Sony’s site.
