Most of you who grew up before the era of the NES would surely have given the Atari 2600 home console a go in your living rooms, where super blocky pixellated graphics actually helped you stay glued to the front of the TV screen for hours on end, never mind that it is bright and sunshinny outside with plenty of fresh air, viewing everything in real “high definition” so to speak, and even with your mom’s urging, you continued to remain stuck to your controller.

Of course, some of the more classic games you’ve enjoyed would be Centipede and Asteroids, and Atari certainly isn’t going to let their franchise go to waste so many decades later with the announcement of Centipede: Infestation that will be out this fall. Atari will of course publish the title with developer WayForward re-imagining the legendary video game franchise to engross a new generation of gamers with Centipede: Infestation.

Centipede: Infestation will place you in a post-apocalyptic world, where your gaming action experience comprise of run-n-gun shooting style gameplay with tower defense-style objects. Some of the more interesting weapons in the arsenal include the Lightning Orb Gun, Nuke Cannon, Freezethrower and Mine Launcher amongst others. Available for the Nintendo 3DS, you will also be able to enjoy ad-hoc multiplayer for 2 player co-op for a more social gaming experience. [Press Release]
