MSI has just showed off their Android overclocking utility known as the Afterburner, where it was co-developed by MSI and well-known software programmer “Nick Connors”. The new Afterburner utility will allow Android-based smartphones as well as tablets to adjust or monitor Afterburner settings on a PC thanks to an existing Wi-Fi connection. This means you can now check out your rig’s temperature, voltage and fan speed, in addition to overclocking and overvoltaging the device.

The Afterburner app will clearly target enthusiasts who eat, sleep and breathe pushing their PCs to the maximum level of performance. Imagine playing your favorite FPS title, and during one of those breaks, you will be able to take a quick glance at your Android smartphone to see just how the rig is holding up. Heck, even key parameters can even be adjusted on-the-fly for specific testing scenarios. You can also hook up to your home computer and see how the graphics card is performing remotely, making it perfect when you are running scientific computing programs which make plenty of use of the GPU such as Folding@Home.

Just make sure that before you delve into this, the Wi-Fi connection and Afterburner remote server must be available on the desktop PC so that Afterburner features can see action on your smartphone. [Press Release]
