The last time we posted about a smoke detector, we wrote about FireText, which is a smoke detector that comes with a slot for a SIM card and that would also send text messages out to four numbers whenever it goes off. Well if the look of a traditional smoke detector does not do it for you and somehow ruins the décor of your house/room, then perhaps this bird-shaped smoke detector might fit right in.

Called the Chick-a-Dee (due to its appearance which resembles the American Black-capped Chickadee), there’s not much to it, apart from the fact that it looks pretty cute and people who did not know any better would just assume it’s some decorative piece of art. The device is said to be really sensitive (we would hope so!) and will be able to sound an alarm at 85dB, which seems to be sufficiently loud enough.

It is powered by a 9V battery whose battery life is claimed to be 1 ½ years long and it will cost you €49.95, which roughly translates to $70, and you can get it from Design-3000’s website.
