If you see a particularly cheap pair of Beats by Dr. Dre that sports a price point that is too good to be true, be forewarned – it is most probably a counterfeit product. Well, Christmas being just less than a week away often translates to the mad rush of picking up last minute gifts – and it makes sense that some counterfeit products might actually land in consumers’ hands as shoppers tend to gloss over their shopping. Mix-Style, a Japanese manufacturer of stylish designer headphones, decided to combat counterfeiting with the integration of Prooftag’s Bubble Tag technology as part of their effort to guarantee the authenticity of its products to customers.

Since July of this year, headphones from Mix-Style come with a verification certificate from Prooftag. The Bubble Tag will enable customers to check the authenticity of their product online in a jiffy, making it one interesting device to be included in each purchase. I do wonder whether hardware manufacturers of other devices will look into the Bubble Tag in order to maintain a degree of confidence in consumers.
